It’s almost June. By now you have a pretty good read on your fantasy team. Chances are you need to make some changes. Here are a few tips.
ADD: Koji Uehara, P, Orioles — Uehara is 2-3 with a 4.34 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP this season in eight starts. Is picking up the surprising, 34 year-old, Japanese rookie going to win you your league championship? No. But it might help your image a bit after that drunken, racist tirade against Asians you went on last weekend in front of everyone at the bar. I mean, really — what was that all about?
TRADE: Albert Pujols, 1B, Cardinals — He is hitting .326. His career average is .334. You better unload this pile of crap for whatever you can get in return for him before he completely collapses.
ADD: Derek Jeter, SS, Yankees — Yes, he’s only hitting .273. Yes, he has just 13 extra base hits on the season. But I play in a fantasy league with Joe Morgan and a bunch of other old-school major league players. And our scoring system tracks only three categories: heart, intangibles and moxie.
DROP: Jamie Moyer, P, Phillies — He has a 7.62 ERA and a 1.81 WHIP on the season. And here are two other stats to know about Jamie Moyer: his age is now 46 while his fastball is now 45.
ADD: David Ortiz, DH, Red Sox — Old? Washed up? Ha! Ortiz has averaged a one home run every three at-bats since the 5th inning last night against the Blue Jays.
