The upstart United Football League is going to give high-risk players with troubled pasts — guys like Michael Vick — a chance to play.
I don’t think this is a good idea.
So, let’s say they put a player out there who … I don’t know, killed a woman while driving drunk. And then, showing no remorse at all, got stopped again a few years later for DUI.
Or heck, what if they just stock the field with guys who have been convicted of assault, domestic violence and weapons charges?
Who knows, they could go really crazy and push as a star a guy who plead guilty to obstruction of justice in a double murder case. A double murder!
See, this is what many upstarts don’t understand. You can’t just copy the guy at the top. They’ll always do it better. You have to come up with your own unique approach.
UFL, stop trying to be the NFL. You’ll never have the criminals they do.
